Η Γιούκου είναι ένα νεαρό ποντικάκι που ζει με την οικογένειά της στο κελάρι ενός κάστρου. Η γιαγιά της της μεταδίδει τις οικογενειακές αξίες, διηγούμενη διαχρονικά λαϊκά παραμύθια. Τραυματισμένη από μια σύγκρουση με μια γάτα, η ηλικιωμένη ποντικίνα είναι καθηλωμένη στο κρεβάτι και λέει στα παιδιά της ότι θα πρέπει να τους αφήσει για να ακολουθήσει το τυφλό μικρό τυφλοπόντικα στα τούνελ της γης. Σε ένα από τα βιβλία ιστοριών της γιαγιάς της, η Γιούκου μαθαίνει ότι το λουλούδι των Ιμαλαΐων μπορεί να της φέρει το αιώνιο φως. Έτσι, ξεκινά ένα ταξίδι ανακάλυψης για να βρει το λουλούδι.
