February marks the return of Peloponnesian winemakers to Cyprus through their annual showcase, the Peloponnese Wine Festival. On Monday, February 17, the flagship event of Peloponnesian winemakers, now in its seventh year in Limassol, invites professionals and wine enthusiasts to discover the treasures of Greece's largest vineyard.
The event will take place at Carob Mill Restaurants, where 26 of the most prominent representatives of the Peloponnesian vineyard will shine through their creations, adding a festive tone to the exhibition. There’s no better opportunity to delve into the terroir characteristics, diversity, and uniqueness of Peloponnesian wines – from a region that symbolizes innovation and continuous evolution of Greek wine.
Exceptional Wines from Outstanding Varieties
In 2025, you’ll have the chance to sample over 200 wine labels featured in this year’s festival. As always, the spotlight will be on the unique wine "gems" of the Peloponnese, crafted from Greece's iconic native varieties such as Agiorgitiko, Moschofilero, Roditis, and Mavrodaphne – varieties at the forefront of Greek wine's global reputation. Additionally, the festival will feature a wide range of wines from rising Greek and international varieties like Assyrtiko, which adapt remarkably to the local vineyard. Offering an array of styles, from classic winemaking to experimental creations and vintage selections, this event promises to be one of the most exciting wine exhibitions in terms of portfolio.
Recognizing Cyprus as one of the most significant markets for Greek wine, winemakers will be present at the stands alongside their local representatives, providing direct insights and engaging with attendees. Among the participants, you’ll find high-quality wineries seeking representation in the Cypriot market.
Peloponnese 2040: Tasting the Future The Peloponnese Wine Festival continues to enrich the visitor experience with parallel activities that highlight the vision and values of Peloponnesian winemakers. This year, through the "Peloponnese 2040" initiative, the festival focuses on innovation and adaptability to future challenges such as climate change.
Resilient varieties, advanced clones, mountainous viticulture, and modern cultivation techniques showcase the producers’ strategy for a sustainable wine future. This special tasting session, guided by experienced sommeliers, will provide valuable insights into the wines of this pioneering initiative.
